Laser welding
Laser welding machines are used to join plastic tubes and are ideal for balloon catheter welding. Laser technology ensures that there is no thermal effect on the balloon, making it an excellent technology for balloon bonding applications. The laser enables customers to minimize the length of the balloon's legs because the laser can be accurately focused near the balloon without exposing the balloon to heat that could cause damage or pinholes. Some applications have balloon legs as small as 0.5mm in length and still achieve a burst pressure rating of 24 bar. Laser bonders allow distal bonding and tip shaping in one step process. The same laser can be used for proximal and distal bonding.
No motion laser welding
BW-Tec has a wide range of laser welding models designed for versatile welding connections that produce precise and repeatable results. All our machines are equipped with advanced technology for enhanced user management and programmed for quick and easy maintenance.
In machine 1530, the product does not rotate! The laser beam rotates around the part arranged on the mandrel. This is ideal for applications where the mandrel rotates unevenly or the product is too heavy to rotate at high speeds.
Braided to non-woven welds
Butt welds are created when two pipes of similar size are bonded together using axial pressure. The resulting bonds have smooth OD transitions.
Butt welds between braided and non-braided pipe sections are a common application that are ideal for Vante RF welding equipment. A strong bond can be created without exposing the metal braid to the outer surface. No heat shrinking is required when using Vante technology, so the bonded surface creates a very smooth visual transition between the two tubes. Teflon sleeves can be incorporated into molds to eliminate sticking and improve bond strength.

Overlapping joints made easy
Our hot air technology is ideal for lap joints and in some cases thermoplastic butt welds. Combined with precise temperature control, machined heat nozzles and heat shrink, these systems are capable of producing high quality overlapping joints. With this proven technology, many customers rely on the equipment to produce high-precision, high-throughput, and low-cost solutions for nearly all tube processing needs. We offer a variety of equipment capable of performing a variety of basic catheter manufacturing processes, including:
Laminate
heat shrink
Tube to Tube Bonding
Catheter Tip Forming
stretch
Neck and Flare
The hot air process requires heat shrinking. PET and silicone heat shrink are some commonly used materials.
Cartridge Heated Chip Balloon Bonder
Split die bonding is a two-step process that involves pre-shrinking a protective sleeve over the bond area and exposing it to heat through heated split die, each with half the bond diameter. In contrast, split die bonding has shorter cycle times than hot air technology because the heated die is in direct contact with the material. Additionally, the split die configuration provides the advantage of being able to visually align the bonding locations with the heated areas of the die. These efficient machines are easy to use, easy to calibrate and easy to verify.
Sample processing and prototyping
Machine Solutions recognizes that the market requires rapid production of prototype components to prove design concepts and secure high-volume production projects. Our goal is to get into your hands initial proof-of-concept samples that represent our capabilities and are close to the final geometry required for your project. We have invested in dedicated manufacturing, design and engineering capabilities focused on delivering the fastest possible sample production for our customers.
Cut the tube
A clean cut is an essential element of a robust bonding process. Clean edges provide a repeatable melt interface between the two tube sections for maximum tension and repeatable fabrication results.
Machine Solutions offers solutions ranging from simple cutting jigs to highly automated wire removal and cutting machines to suit your budget and manufacturing needs.
